Mile Zero! Norfolk Virginia
07 May 2018 | Waterside Marina
Cold, rainy, yuk
Well, as always plans change at the drop of a hat. We cruised through the Dismal Swamp on a dismal day, heavy fog, and drizzle. Half way through, the deciscion was made to not stop, but drive through to Norfolk Virginia. It was just too misrable to stop and sightsee there.
After getting up at 5:00 am it meant cruising until 5:00 pm but now we are at a nice marina, and going out for supper.
The Festivus crew, Kurt and Leanne, and Dan, Susan and I went out to Guy Fiero"s restaurant, The Smokehouse Grill. He is well known from his show, Dinners, Dives and Drive inns. 4 of us shared two massive racks of ribs, done St. Louis style, and Kurt had two bacon wrapped meat loafs. It was pretty good, but Susan and I still believe our "Eagle Heart special recipe slow cooked ribs's" beats his!
The going out to dinner was in celebration of getting to MILE ZERO of the Intercoastal Waterway. We started two weeks ago at Stuart Florida, and now have completed that section of the journey, probably one of the more challenging of the trip. Next is the leg, 400 miles to New York, and then up the Eire Canal to the Saint Lawrence Seaway.
