Montreal F1 race week
08 June 2018 | Montreal Harbour
Finally 75 degrees
Well, after all the fun and games with my transmission yesterday, I am happy to say that I seem to have fixed the leak, and it is running well. Good thing too, as we needed both motors today. This morning we had a pleasant 8 mile cruise to the Saint Lawrence Seaway. Once you get there the fun starts. You have a 1.5 to 2.5 mph current against you for 38 of the 40 miles. The last two miles going into the Port of Montreal is when it gets real exciting for trawlers like us. The current is 7 miles per hour (Seven) no misprint! For a boat that tops out at 9, this makes for one heck of a ride for 1 hour! We were going by the amusement park, but Susan said this boat ride was all the excitement she needed this week! This is not tidal current, but river current, so no waiting for tide change!
Once we entered the breakwater to the Montreal Yacht Club, the water was calm, and it was HOT. Yeah, at last. It was definitely Miller time to chill after an interesting day.
We met our friends Kurt and Leanne, and strolled through the waterfront area. They were well rested from the day, as they arrived at 11:00 this morning; their boat does 30 mph. Some days I would love that!
The town is buzzing with racecar activity, and crowds of people from around the globe are here to view the race. McClarren has a large presence in town, With their cars (and guards) on every street sidewalk!
Went for supper on a sidewalk cafe that seemed packed at 6:00. Lucky we did, as all the restaurants had lines starting at 7:00!
The picture is of the 7 mph water rushing by boat. The good news is that when we leave Monday it will be pushing us. Going to be crazy!
