Sainte Anne Lock
11 June 2018 | Sainte Anne de Bellvue
75 degrees, beautiful day
Left the Montreal Yacht Club at 0700 to hopefully get the first Lock-up. Mistake, should have stayed in bed until 9. The lockmasters wanted to get two freighters through so held up the 9 pleasure craft until 11:30. There are no schedules in boating!
The plus side was that there was not much current after cruising the first two miles out of the yacht basin. As we had a 6 mph current pushing us this time, I was hitting 14 mph on the boat. I could get used to that speed!
We cruised in calm warm weather up to the first Parks Canada Lock, Sainte Anne de Belvue, and are waiting to head up in the morning. It is a very picturesque town, modernized, but keeping the old world charm.
Picture is of the Saint Lambert Commercial Lock. Very busy with frieghters. They fit in pleasure boats where they can, but never with frieghters
