Boat Graveyard
11 September 2018 | Fenelon Falls, Lock 34
We are still at Fenelon Falls, and the weather has turned and looking good for tomorrow. Meanwhile Susan has been doing "retail therapy", but has basicly come to the boat empty handed. Quite unusual. A lot of places have nice clothing and shoes, but the price is quite high.
I rode my bike around town, and have heard of a boat recycling shop here. When I found it, I was stunned! It looked as if a Tsammani had hit the town, and deposited all the boats in a pile. There are cabin cruisers up to 45 feet, sunbridge cruisers, runabouts, aluminum fishing boats ranging from 1950 to probably 2010. They have met their demise by hiting rocks, hitting docks, or just getting old. Stacked 3 to 4 deep, just waiting to be stripped down. There is no orgainization, and the owners are saving the weirdest things. One container just holds engine control cables. Now virtually no one installs used cables, so why save them? It was cool to find this graveyard, but I just can not see a business in tearing down these boats, unless it is scrap metal.
Today we did a total clean in the master bedroom. It is amazing how one accumulates "stuff" after 2 years. Now I know where the 8 erasers ended up!
Susan once again prepared an excellent Chicken and Pasta dinner, so we still dine like kings. Our waistline tells no lies. We have, however lost a few inches from walking, and watching the goodies.
Well, tomorrow off to do a few more locks
