Down the Tennessee River

After we returned the rental car, we did a few boat chores getting ready to head out. It was going to be a short cruising day, as the primary thought was to find a nice, quiet anchorage. We really enjoy the isolation of the quiet bays, listing to the birds and crickets. In marinas, all you seem to hear is sirens, and someone else's music!
We are now anchored at Panther Bay, on mile 60 of the Tennessee River. Over the next few days we shall make our way to Pickwick Lake.
When we came back to the boat last night, it was like a Looper convention. Nine Loopers had pulled in, 2 of them completing the Great Loop at Green Turtle Bay. Good fun to see the contentment on their faces of this accomplishment. Interesting fact: more people climb Mount Everest each year, than complete the great Loop.
There is no wind, and it's 90 degrees (38 C). We have been hopping in the water each 30 minutes, something you can't do in a Marina. The water though, is 93 degrees, so it's wet, but not hugely refreshing.
The picture is a duck blind. Hunting is serious business down here. The radio is full of adds for ammunition and hunting accessories. Early morning resonates with the sound of gunfire. Comforting - not!
