Another great cruising day
08 September 2019 | Eagle Nest Island
John Robin | 35 C - 95F, supposed to get hotter this week.
Left this morning to glassy water, and a slight breeze blowing at us. Heaven after the still air the last few days. I asked some locals about forest fires in this region due to the hot weather, and all the campfires on the beach. Nope, not around here he told me. I am not sure why, but very few fires start around here. Will have to learn their secret.
Having learned my lesson re: anchoring yesterday, I was looking for an island to tuck behind. Lo and behold, an Island jumped out and said anchor here. So tonight we are anchored behind ......Eagle Nest Island. 🌴 How could I say no! One slight problem with Island anchoring is that you are subject to the 1 mph current. No problem for boat anchoring, but you have to tie yourself to the boat for swimming. Otherwise, you could go sightseeing real quick!
As we near Pickwick Lake the scenery is changing. There is a lot of layered rock on the banks. Quite interesting geography, and a change from the sand and gravel the last gew days
