Slathering on the sunscreen
24 February 2020 | Fort Myers beach

Today Susan and I went to the beach, for the first time in ages! I did not do boat maintenance, and she did not cook or clean. What's going on?
We will be in the Fort Myers area until March 6, so are taking it easy. This is kind of against my normal work fetish, but I am undergoing therapy to slow down and smell the roses!
This area is a Mecca for Canadians, predominantly Saskatchewan and eastwards. Same for the eastern Americans trying to escape the winter climate. All the restaurant and bars play 60s and 70s music, and there are a lot of white pony tails; men and women!
The beaches, amazingly are not packed. Quite a few vacationers prefer the hotel swimming pools to the Ocean.
For the first time since we started cruising, we ran out of water. We did not fill up 10 days ago in Carabele, leaving with about 125 gallons of water. Since then, we have been on mooring balls, or anchored, so no water. This morning we filled up with diesel (55 gallons) so they would allow us to fill the water tanks. Not bad if you think about it. We use about 12 gallons a day showering, cooking, washing dishes etc. We DO use bottled water for drinking, and making coffee. I believe at home we use about 50 gallons (200 litres) a day.
Todays picture is once again taken by Susan, our budding photographer. Sunset over Fort Myers Beach
