Plans - What plans!

18 March 2020 | Sombrero Marina, Marathon
John Robin | 85
As millions of us know, the current situation is causing plan changes by the hour. Down here in Florida, there are two reported cases in the state, and no cases in the Florida Keys.
The plan for us was to start heading north Friday, to go to Bimini, but that is not going to happen. Plan B was to head north to wait out
this virus storm. Well as of this evening, we are mulling that over. Today 20 Marinas in Florida shut down their docks to new arrivals, but boats and crew that are in the Marina can stay. That puts us in a position of wondering if we should stay put, or press on. We are waiting for the morning reports from marinas and from government agencies about the best course of action.
I am on a news mailing list from the Canadian government listing what the situation is in our local area. Also the Florida governor is giving many interviews outlining what is going on, now - and in the near future. Stay tuned as we figure out what we are going to do.

On a lighter note; we went out for a one hour bicycle ride. It was weird. Most of the vehicles on the road were city workers, hydro, Sheriffs, police and a few tourists. The beaches were officially shut down today, as they can not keep the bathrooms, and playgrounds clean to the new standards. I must say, the new slogan down here is Keep America Clean, not Keep America Great. Ladies are hired to wash each grocery cart with bleach, and rinse with a hose. Employees are standing outside of doors and sanitizing door handles as each customer enters. Hand cleaner is at each door. Sadly though, Combat fatigue is setting in. If someone in a store sneezes, customers DIVE out the isles, just like someone had thrown a grenade! I am guilty of many of these sneezes. When I come in from an 85 degree, 80 percent humidity atmosphere, and hit the store air at 68 degrees and 50 percent humidity, I almost always sneeze! I am getting tired of the glaring looks as customers pick themselves off the floor, realizing I am probably not a Virus demon!
Susan loves the mailboxes around here. There are Flamingos, Manatee, Mermaids, Storks, holding up the boxes. They do make a pretty picture.
I have installed the new anchor that I wanted for the Bahamas. Oh well, maybee next year. I am starting some boat maintenance projects to keep busy.
Picture today is of my favorite mail box, a mermaid.
