Atlantic spotted dolphins welcoming us back to Florida
Yesterday we said good bye to the Bahamas and left our quiet anchorage at O'dark thirty (4:15 am) The full moon provided us with plenty of light heading out to the open sea. Eagle Heart rocked and rolled gently all the way to West Palm Beach. We were about half way across the Gulf when a cute little yellow and black bird decided to pay us a visit. It landed on Johns chest while he was lying down on one of our lounge cushions having a rest. The bird got startled when John sat up and then landed on one of our solar panels. Unfortunately I was not able to get a photo of it before it flew away. The other cool thing we saw during our crossing was a bunch of young dolphins swimming in and out of our boat wake, and in front of our bow wave. We never get tired of seeing them! We got to West Palm Beach at 12:45 and then proceeded through the inlet to Lake Worth and set our anchor in the same location we were a month ago. This is the first time that we were able to clear customs, and obtain an American cruising licence electronically. Sure save some footwork! After a good night sleep, we woke up to another blustery day. Winds will be above 20 mph all week! After breakfast we took our dinghy to Riviera beach marina to pay for the use of their dinghy dock so we could go to shore and walk to a local marine supply store. The last time we were here they charged us $16. for the day, this time it was $16. for three hours 😂
As it was we did not want to be away from the boat too long due to the wind getting stronger by the hour. Because of the High winds for the rest of the week, we will be looking for a better anchorage tomorrow.
