Whistling Dixie

John Robin | Whistling Dixie!
Today was a nice cruise north to Fort Pierce. We wanted to anchor out and play tourist in this town. There are 6 anchorages close to the city docks. We anchored near the Fort Pierce entrance and quickly realized it was not a great idea. The winds were at 25 mph, gusting to 40, and the current was about 3 mph. Mostly catamarans we’re anchored here in 6-9 feet of water, (that’s actually deep in these parts!) They all had heavy chain anchoring gear. I have 75 feet of chain and 200 feet of anchor rope. I laid out 125 feet, and you could have been a tight rope walker on that line. The Rocna anchor held well, but I just was not happy. I called up the local city marina, which had said they were full a couple of days ago. Because of the high winds, many had cancelled their cruising plans, so now we are alongside. I will sleep much better tonight!
No picture today, as I forgot to take a picture of that anchor line. Darn, to much on my mind!
