One more thing

There is always one more thing to do or fix on a boat. I had commented to Susan that I frequently heard a pump starting in the night. Mike was sitting outside the boat yesterday, and comment d that a bilge pump came on every 6 minutes! That is not supposed to happen. Water on the outside, air on the inside, that is called a boat. We looked around last night and could see water running in the bilge, but could not trace the source.
This morning I got more serious, and traced it back to the port engine cooling water. A water hose had chaffed through where it rubbed on rough fibreglass. This was an old problem, as I found when I pulled off the hose. It had been patched with gasket compound and electrical tape in the past. There are no new hoses up here, so I will patch it with self sealing silicone tape, until we get back to a marine store.
Today, Betche, Susan and I went for a hike to the entrance lighthouse. Very nice walk through the forest for about 45 minutes each way. The lodge has a huge paddle welcoming you to the north country. The ladies wanted to try out the canoe that came with it!
Tonight dinner will be Herbert's famous whitefish fish and chips. Lip smacking delicious. 😋
