Todays photo, the General store, closed today. When is the last time you were in a phone booth?

We left Little Current at 0700, with a beautiful sunrise greeting us, as we exited the marina. There is a chill in the air these mornings, a harbinger of the fall colours soon to grace these shores. A few, wise Canada geese are starting to fly south in their V formations, before the freezing mornings start. At the same time, many city folk are heading up to their hunting cabins, cleaning and provisioning for the fall and winter hunting season. I saw a hunting cabin on Manitoulan Island listed the other day; A 800 square foot cabin with no power, no running water, and an outhouse. $200,000.00!
What?
Well it came with 250 acres of property, so you had your own hunting grounds. Hmmm. Any partners interested? 🦌 🦌 🐻 🦆 🎣. It was waterfront for fishing also.

It was a slow trip today. We dinged our port prop on a rock 2 days ago. A real comedy of errors, and bad luck. We were waiting 45 minutes for a bridge opening, and decided to try out the anchor. After several attempts, the anchor released and we anchored of the channel in 20 feet of water. Thirty minutes later we started to bring the anchor in, and found the anchor jammed in a rock? As we worked on this problem, a squall hit us with driving rain, and 30 mph winds. Jeeeez.🤷‍♂️🤬 Give a guy a break? Mike and I tried many times to release the anchor, and during one of the attempts, we buried the bow and swung the boat 120 degrees, right into a underwater rock. We just grazed it, but the port propeller dinged it. A very unfortunately common occurrence in the north channel. Definitely would like a redo of that 1/2 hour 😔.
Now we are limited to 9 mph, Eagle Heart speed. Definitely saving fuel.
We arrived a Meldrum Bay, and it is kind of sad. A nice hotel has shut down, and only has guests on weekends. General store is open 6 days a week, or when they feel like it. Every other business shut down except the town marina. Really nothing left here but hunting and fishing cabins.
