Photo: Beer research...
My drinking buddy Gary and I agree. NZ is a fabulous country but, as a former colony of ours, the current inhabitants of these stunning Islands have failed to maintain important English standards, particularly relating to beer and bacon. Gary and I discussed this matter in depth during a boozy interlude gazing out over a beautiful Hatea River sunset. We both formed, entirely independently, the same calculated and reasoned conclusion.
Our joint research concluded that New Zealand beers are, with one or two exceptions, quite mediocre and not fitting to an English taste. When reading this you must consider that both Gary and I are beer connoisseurs well used to drinking and savouring brewed nectars such as
Harvest Pale Ale! An English beer that only a true Englishman can appreciate. To establish this fact we sampled a fair few NZ beers, so we can, and do, consider ourselves experts. Their wines however, we acknowledge, are by far the best available to mankind (and womankind).
As for their bacon? Enough said...
There! I said it.
