Happy Birthday John!
13 January 2006 | Normans Cay
Today John is 7 years old! Friday the thirteenth! The forecast is calling for a strong Norther to hit us tomorrow, Saturday, so we have decided to cancel school today since the sun is shining and the weather is still nice and we will have school on Saturday when the cold front is upon us! No complaints from the boys! John woke up and the boat was all decorated with balloons and ribbons- his smile was enormous! We took an island walk to a restaurant named Macduffs which was across the island. It was a very hot and long walk and when we got there we discovered that the restaurant was closed because the new owner had just crashed in his airplane taking off from the airstip on Normans Cay in September. All died on the plane. So we cooled off in the water and had a nice swim at the beach before heading back. John wanted to spend the afternoon fishing so he and Daniel went fishing off of a rickety dock. John pulled in 2 grunts and they actually "grunt" when they are caught! Daniel had a nice mutton snapper on his line! Great! Fresh fish were added to the birthday dinner menu! John had requested lobster for his dinner.... yes, lobster! So we had lobster and fish for dinner! After fishing we had a party on Eira and invited some new friends, Kim and David on Amanzi. Kim is a kindergarten teacher from New Foundland and David a Photo Journalist from South Africa. Kim sewed a fish pillow for John- Yellow Wonder- for his birthday! We all ate the homemade birthday cake, the boys had soda and we had champagne! A very nice birthday!
