Fresh water
13 February 2017
At home water is so plentiful that we rarely stop to think about what a precious resource it is. We are quickly reminded of it when visiting Baja. When staying at RV parks we usually have ample supply to fill our tanks. We don't connect directly to the city water, we fill our tank and treat it with chlorine, and then top it off before we leave. This way we are always using treated water, even though its just for dish washing, etc. It's been almost 7 weeks since we arrived in Mexico and we haven't gotten any stomach bugs yet! We must be doing something right.
When we head to the beaches, or a parking lot, for boondocking then access to water becomes more of an issue. Thanks to our new friend, Roy (in Puerto Escondido) we learned of a well and water access down an unmarked gravel road, behind an electrical substation. Apparently the well water is pure and wonderful even for drinking. There is no threaded hose connection, so I just held the hose up to the end of the pipe. I got a little wet, but what a great secret to fill up. This will need to last us until the weekend when we return to a park in Loreto or Mulege.
