ELIXIR

A circumnavigation of UK - 2022

Life raft mission …

.. accomplished (part 1)

so we had a great 7 hour sail from Douglas IOM to Whitehaven in Cumbria this morning. A lovely broad reach all the way which is normally the fastest point of sail and we arrived perfectly as there was enough water to immediately enter the lock.
After refuelling (at eye watering cost for 150 litres of diesel) Penny made a challenging parking manouvere with a little nudge.
Unfortunately our own repacked life raft was not ready (we will get that back in Oban) but were delighted our 2nd replacement rental had arrived in the marina. Whoop! So we unpacked the larger 6-person ( to cover us plus guest) and then packed the original 4-man to send back to Cornwall. All done

PnT cooked a lovely vegan meal which we devoured in the cockpit followed by tiramisu & berries. We then finished planning our next leg to stay on schedule - 0400 slip tomorrow to sail the 75 miles or so to Bangor. Wind & tide are against us for half the trip between mull of Galloway and NI so it will be tricky even for Elixir - tacking could add 20% more distance So hope to complete in 12-14 hours

looking forward to a day off ON Thursday and dinner at my favourite pub in Bangor.
