Back to Man O War

We are at the end of this leg of our journey. We are returning to Man O War to get the boat hurricane ready. This is a very secure, calm harbor. We are heading back to the states to spend a month with family. This adventure has been wonderful. We know it won't be long until we have our next sea trip. We wish you wonderful, exciting sea travels!

Tahiti Beach

Hopetown has many fabulous locations, but our favorite area by far is Tahiti Beach. We sailed the boat out of the harbor to the Southernmost point of Elbow Cay, set the hook and kayaked/ dingied to the beach. It is a popular spot for young families because the water is very shallow for a long way out. There are many creatures to see-shells, snorkeling is good and kids can even stand up with a mask on and look under the water. This is a great area for bone fishing. I found several sunrise tellens and some seaglass. I really enjoyed kayaking all around and we both enjoyed snorkeling. Rick spent a good amount of time cleaning the bottom of the boat. The water is so clear you can see the bottom of ocean floor through 7-8 ft of water.

Vicki/ fabulous weather/80 degrees, swimsuit time
Yes, we are still in Ft. Lauderdale! We got repairs done, left for crossing last Sunday afternoon. We got about 6 miles out and started hearing a weird sound. The engine seemed fine but the noise started happening frequently. Sounded like transmission issues! So, we turned around and came back in Port Everglades-just as all the cruise ships were leaving-Need I say more??? We went back to our anchorage(lake Sylvia) Rick started checking everything out-AGAIN- can't tell what is wrong. Decided to tackle it on Monday! He started calling people first thing in the morning. He spent the whole day just trying to locate someone who could come check it out. We kept being handed off to someone else, or told we would get a call back. He finally got a name late Monday. We spent another night at the anchorage. Met a very nice couple from Michigan! They came over in their dinghy. They wanted to know all about our boat. They had never seen one like it, and wanted to know about it. They have been doing this for 17 years and had lots of helpful information for us! Hope we meet up with them again, somewhere along the way! Anyway, Tuesday morning( today) we came back to the Las Olas Marina and set up a time for the repair guy to come. We hope to have this repair done in a couple of days. Then, we are going to rent a car and go home for next week! Our kids and grands are coming! We will spend some fun times with them, take a break from this crazy journey, then return mid March to try once again to make it across! I think we are all the way to plan G-hope we don't run out of the alphabet before then
