ADVENTURES WITH HERB

10 November 2008
We left Snead Island Shipyard and motored over to Twin Dolphins Marina on Monday, November 3rd. After a few days of working on the boat we called Herb to say hello and get our social life in motion.

Herb came by for a visit and we had a great evening listening to Herb's stories about rattlesnakes and water snakes. Herb has a gardening business and came across a dead, 5 foot long, female rattlesnake which had about 10 rattles on it. Even though it was dead, Herb handled it with a very long stick. He wanted to skin it and get the rattles.

A few days later we went dancing with Herb and Michelle - had a great time! Then a few days later, Jim and I took our inflatable with its new Yamaha 15, down the Manatee River to join up with Herb and his pirate friends aboard a huge Chris Craft for drinks and dinner. Fun was had by all and we now know a really good drinking game with dice. We were lucky to find our way back up the Manatee River later that evening.

Yesterday we took Herb out sailing. Had a wonderful sail. Nothing went wrong- the only hitch was getting away from the dock without crashing into any big boats - we sort of succeeded, we only bumped into a little boat and it sustained no visible damage as far as we could see as we quickly left the scene.....

Today its back to work and spending.
We are having a wonderful time.
Life is good.

What a great island to explore- not overpopulated, no golf courses and no huge waterfront resorts. This island is very pristine!

In March of 2008 we flew down to Bradenton, Florida to view a 38 foot Island Packet which we had found on the internet. Our boat broker, Alan Pressman, did everything he could to help us with our decision. We fell in love with the boat and decided to buy her.......
