We went on to Turnbull Cove, having been here once before and remembering its isolation. There was reported to be a trail to a fresh water lake and we wanted to see if we could find it. After several attempts at negotiating the rocky "beach" (thankful for dinghy wheels) we landed and started up the hike. This was a straight ascent since apparently the concept of switchbacks has not made it this far north. The day was overcast and cold, the lake was less than exciting, so it wasn't the best walk.
However, the highlight of our stay at Turnbull came at dusk when a black bear came out of the woods and started foraging for food along the low tide line. Did my best with a cell phone camera, but the view through the binoculars was spectacular.
