On the way at last!

20 April 2021 | Hayling Island, Chichester
Martin Crick
I left Hamble this morning just after 11am. The wind is still mainly easterly, but I had a great sail tacking against it down the eastern Solent. The weather was sunny but cold. After leaving the Solent, passing Spitsand Fort, I headed for Chichester. I'm now moored to a buoy to the east of Hayling Island.

There were, inevitably, some last minute maintenance issues before departure. Many thanks to electrician Nick Hutchins who came out at short notice on Monday to diagnose a problem with the water immersion heater. Turned out the RCD was faulty, which was a major safety risk. All fixed within a couple of hours. Thanks as well to the team at Elvstrom Sails who have replaced zips on the sail cover and cockpit awning in the last couple of weeks. And many many thanks to Steve Durkin and the team at Universal Yachting who have done a lot of work to get Eowyn ready for the trip - including fixing a leak in the fresh water system this morning that I really should have been able to fix myself!
