I left Ipswich Dock at 9am - much easier departure than arrival, with a head wind in the lock! That did mean a head wind all the way down the R Orwell, whichever way it turned... Then out to sea and a very brief sail as far as the entrance to the R Deben.
This is not
an entrance to take lightly, so sail rolled away and working engine back on.
Once past the dodgy entrance, the river is
beautiful. The wind was finally fair, so I rolled out the jib again and sailed up as far as Waldringfield, then turned around and motored back to the picturesque anchorage at
The Rocks. Foreboding name for what is actually a great and safe anchorage. Nicely sheltered by what passes for a hill hereabouts, topped with trees. The only sound is wind in the rigging, and birds in the trees. Stunning.
