Wallace Island

25 August 2005 | Gulf Islands, BC
M
Erramus at anchor in Princess Cove, Wallace Island. It's a lovely spot, and pretty well protected, but it does get very crowded. Notice the parallel parking style stern tying.

Ganges Market Day

22 August 2005 | Ganges, Saltspring Island, BC
M
The Ganges Market is legendary. And the attraction is not just the amazing array of products they sell from the stalls. This man is engaged is some creative healing with bells and flutes.

Paul Snags One!

21 August 2005 | Active Pass, Gulf Islands
M
Our friend Paul finally caught his salmon, just at the edges of Active Pass, after unsuccessful attempts in Bella Bella and Campbell River. See the smile.

Sunset

19 August 2005 | Sidney Spit, BC
M
If you only look at the depths on the chart, you might be scared off. But it's a great anchorage in fair weather.

Curious Salsa

19 August 2005 | Sidney Spit
M
Oh, the things you see on (in?) the beach at Sidney Spit.

Joe's Bay

16 August 2005 | Barkley Sound
M
Another one of the many fine anchorages in Barkely Sound. Very protected and room for lots of boats.

The Pinkertons

15 August 2005 | Barkley Sound
M
A small secluded anchorage at the eastern end of Barkley Sound.

Fogust

14 August 2005 | Barkley Sound
M
It was foggy most of the time we were in Barkley Sound, but it was August, and they do call it "Fogust" -- for a reason. Some days the fog didn't burn off until 5 or 6 o'clock in the afternoon.

Effingham Bay

13 August 2005 | Barkley Sound
M
It was foggy with big seas and no wind as we made our way from Port San Juan to Barkley Sound. We blew one of the engine fuel lines and it was very urpy. Then the engine died just as we pulled into Effingham Bay. But this was the reward at the end of it all.

Thrasher Bay

12 August 2005 | Port San Juan, Vancouver Island
M
This was the rolliest anchorage we've ever been in. It seemed quite pleasant when we arrived, but it's hard to find a sheltered spot. Beautiful, but very rolly.

Cape Flattery

11 August 2005 | Strait of Juan de Fuca
M
W-a-y off in the distance, you can almost see Cape Flattery. (It was a very friendly day on the Strait of Juan de Fuca, which can be VERY challenging.) We had fleeting thoughts of turning left and just heading south, but decided we weren't quite ready.

Maybe in a couple of years ...

Bon Voyage, Nuage!

08 August 2005 | Sidney, BC
M
Our friends, Carol and David, on Nuage leave the Port of Sidney Marina on their way south. They made the trip to San Francisco in seven days and enjoyed 20 knot winds most of the way. They had to motor the last couple of days.
