Getting started

Well we're finally here. The flight from Manchester to Preveza was uneventful. The Thomson plane was modern and the standard was high.
The temperature is very warm though. Last night at 9pm it was 27 degrees!
Loads of work to do this morning. Flying into Preveza meant a very nice transfer to resort time of under 1 hour, but the downside is not having a hire car. That means several long walks loaded up with supplies. I had the doubly grim task of getting 25 litres of diesel in a jerry can and inflating the inflating the tender, all of this as the mercury tipped 31 degrees.
Around 12:30 we set off. First stop was the bay of Abelike on Meganissi. It's a peaceful spot. Numerous tiny beaches nestled among olive trees and sheltered from the prevailing winds.
The highlight on route was a few minutes sailing with a turtle! Jasmine couldn't quite believe it. Admittedly from a distance it looked more like a floating potato sack. But as we got closer it raised its head and looked at us in a nonchalant manner.
We swam at Abelike. I had to go down and unblock the impeller that gives us a speed reading and the sea-cock for the shower.
The water was incredibly warm.
A few hours relaxing in the bay and we headed over to Porto Vathi on Meganissi. It always feels like home here. Panos and Yiannis greet us as though we're locals. Everyone is so genuinely friendly and hospitable.
The evening meal was at the Rose Garden. Highly recommended. Typical Greek cuisine, but fresh. The salad and calamari were particular favourites.
Tomorrow the plan is to sail on to either Kioni on Ithace or Fiscardho on Kefalonia. They're both long sails and Jasmine and I plan to get up early, stock up on supplies, ready the boat and start the trip. All of this whilst Marty and Mila sleep!
Until tomorrow......
