As I came out or the shower I saw a beautiful Monarch Butterfly, it was at rest with wings closed so rushed back to van for my camera before it flitted. I returned but it still did not move, dried my hair and had a long chat with a boy about Rhys's age about Gondwanaland and still the butterfly did not move. I warmed the croissants for breakfast, made the coffee and at last the butterfly seemed to be waking slowly. The sun had risen high enough to shine on its bush so it was starting to warm up, I think it may have just emerged from its chrysalis as there was an empty husk hanging on a nearby twig. There were also several Monarch caterpillars so I was perhaps lucky to see this early butterfly
