Day One -Punta Gorda to Cayo Costa

Day One - Home to Cayo Costa
Planned the first day to be a short one. Up early to do my share of Wednesday house cleaning and watering the herb garden, tomato plants and pineapples. Then helped Karen set up her new Bernina sewing machine.
Got underway at 1:44 and motored out to Charlotte Harbor and turned southwest. Put up the sails and took off at 5 to 6 knots. Then the wind dropped and when we slowed to 3 knots it was motor sailing time. Half hour later the wind shifted to southwest and it was motoring the next 2 hours to Cayo Costa. 16 miles.
Dropped anchor and read a bit before a chicken breast and Spanish rice. Hope to get an early start tomorrow but it looks like more “wind on the nose.” Hope to make Naples if the weather permits. Out Boca Grande pass to the Gulf and south past Captiva,Sanibel, Ft Myers Beach, Bonita and in at the Naples River.
