Day Fifteen - Marathon
28 April 2021 | Boot Key Harbor, Marathon
Warren Renninger | Clear and Windy
Today was boat day. Changed the diesel’s oil, oil filter, and transmission fluid. Amazingly enough neither Art, Breeze, nor I got covered in black diesel oil. Took the oil ashore to the recycle bin in the Marina.
Then we walked a little over a mile to the grocery store for some meats, greens, and beer. Had lunch at Wendy’s and returned to the boat.
To get ready for tomorrow’s trip to mainland Florida we dropped off the mooring and motored to the fuel dock for 9.3 gallons of diesel. Then back to the mooring and dinghy into the Marina to add some fresh water to the tanks.
Tomorrow the winds are forecast to drop down to 10-15 from the East to SE. As the 47 mile run to Little Shark River is basically North, we should have a good sail. There is no cell phone or WiFi in that area of the Everglades so you will not hear from us for a day.
