A gorgeous sunset last night. Since Tuesday morning we traversed seven locks from Trebes to Carcassonne. It's only about 8 km distance but the locks take a bit of time to get through. We're tied up in a marina in the center of the city next to the train station and its only a fifteen minute walk to the walled medieval city on the hill where we walked and took a tour yesterday afternoon. We spent Tuesday night tied to stakes along the side of the canal.
There were seven locks between Trebes and Carcassonne. The locks raise and lower the boats about eight to ten feet. Heading in this direction we've been raising the boat but once we turn around today we'll be lowering the boat in the locks on the way back to the Mediterranean. Two or three boats fit in the locks and the process goes fairly smoothly.
Went to the farmers market early this morning and picked up fresh figs and bread for breakfast. Seem to have gotten a cold along the way. Stopped by the Pharmacy yesterday and the woman who helped me suggested a homeopathic spray and drops for a steam/vapor treatment. Tried it, but stopped at another pharmacy this morning and got some real drugs.
