Made it up to Rockport MA yesterday afternoon. The crisp fall temperatures (12C) were refreshing and the pistachio ice cream was quite good.
The last day in Paris was great with breakfast near the Louvre then lunch in St Germain de Pres and a pleasant train ride out to Charles De Gaulle airport. The phone worked perfectly until the train pulled into the airport then everything quit again. I was able to pull up my boarding pass on the screen to get through the initial screening and check my bag and after that, I had a paper boarding pass. Talked to several people about phone service in France and the consensus seemed to be that Orange was quite a bit better than SFR (the SIM card I'd bought).
We were an hour late leaving the gate and didn't get into JFK until 2030. Customs and Immigration went smoothly and the trains into the city and on to my hotel were quick. I was in my room at 2230 and watched a bit of Thursday night football before crashing. But, not for long, since I was back out around 0600 for a bagel and a walk before heading uptown to Penn Station and the train to Boston.
It's been good so far in Boston although the AirBnB I booked is a bit odd. If I wasn't already used to living in small quarters, this might seem cramped. Oh well, it's quiet, clean, odd, but only a half mile or so from my son's house. Went to the Topsfield Fair yesterday and watched the crowds consume mass quantities of fried food. It seems you can fry anything. Saw rabbits, bunnies, chickens, pigs, cows, goats, and even a 2000 lb pumpkin. Even played a few games of skill/chance. Then on to Rockport and finally back to Boston. Going sailing this morning on the Charles and then football this afternoon. Heading to Phoenix tomorrow.
