Still windy and we are staying, plus thanks to Dan

It has been a hectic few weeks. We had the issue with the exoneration paperwork and the National Car Reantal overcharge and then need for a survey for new insurance.

Varnish and condo time !

The cabin sole has been beginning to show some real wear and the companionway door was looking like it should have used a lot more sun screen, so it was time to get ready to varnish.

Mess -> hotel stay

Now that we know we are going to stay here in Papagayo Marina for the summer we went to work on some chores.

We got the exoneration paperwork !

Yes, it is April Fools' Day, but we don't think it is a joke.

No bad faith contract needed ?

We finally got our misappropriated Marina Papagayo National Car Rental refund. That only took almost a month and a lot of reminders and an angry complaint letter. Talk about substandard service !

Cultural whiplash

This is another surprising turn of events. We're almost getting whiplash !

That was "interesting".

We're finally connected again !

After we left San Juan del Sur we got trapped in Bahia Santa Elena for ten (10) days/nights.  The papagayo winds just wouldn't let up.  We had two days with max gusts of 58 knots and one day with a 60 knot bullet (per the Davis weather station).  We had 250' of chain out in 23' of water and I think we dragged 80' over the 10 days.  That's dragging a 66 pound bruce with 5/16" high tensile chain.  We removed the bimini and still worried that the solar panels might get ripped off.

When we left on Monday morning we expected to have a one-day weather window and we timed it perfectly.

After a few days anchored in Playa del Coco we finally motored up to Marina Papagayo 6 miles north.  We managed to check in (in Playa del Coco) once the winds abated a bit but before that ended up spending a few hours on the VHF trying to get anyone to help stop a ~45' sport-fisher (Grape Escape) which was dragging out towards Japan.  Someone finally did reach the crew to alert them and bring them back so it ended well.  After the dragging stopped the Costaguardia of Costa Rica ran the crew and owners through the wringer for 2 hours,  just hassling them about every document and piece of equipment on board.

Lots more,  but that's why we have been off-line for so long.  After about one month on the hook it is nice to be back in a slip again for a change and this marina is WONDERFUL,  even at $2/foot/day.
