Still windy and we are staying, plus thanks to Dan

It has been a hectic few weeks. We had the issue with the exoneration paperwork and the National Car Reantal overcharge and then need for a survey for new insurance.

Varnish and condo time !

The cabin sole has been beginning to show some real wear and the companionway door was looking like it should have used a lot more sun screen, so it was time to get ready to varnish.

Mess -> hotel stay

Now that we know we are going to stay here in Papagayo Marina for the summer we went to work on some chores.

We got the exoneration paperwork !

Yes, it is April Fools' Day, but we don't think it is a joke.

No bad faith contract needed ?

We finally got our misappropriated Marina Papagayo National Car Rental refund. That only took almost a month and a lot of reminders and an angry complaint letter. Talk about substandard service !

Cultural whiplash

This is another surprising turn of events. We're almost getting whiplash !

Morning dinghy cruise & more mega !

19 February 2015
This morning Pacific came back to the marina so now there's Atlantic (the huge three masted sailboat), Rock.It, Odessa II and Pacific. Watching Pacific put out the fenders and lie parallel to Odessa II we thought they were going to side tie !!!

Turns out Pacific was parallel "parking" right in front of Odessa II. It looked like Pacific was never ending as she backed up and just kept coming and coming until we were sure she'd end up with her stern on shore. The amazing thing is that she fit !

After they were done "parking" we took the dinghy out for a spin with our coffee cups in hand. When I went out by myself the other night and went full throttle I got up on a full plane and must have been doing 10 knots and even with both of us aboard we did a respectable 4-5 knots. We have still used less than two liters of gasoline but I think the engine is getting tired of the extra-rich oil mixture that we put in for the break-in. It is almost embarrassing to walk up to the fuel dock and ask for a gallon of gasoline, especially when one of the mega-yachts has just been up there and bought fuel by the ton !

We just heard from Revery that they are transiting the canal today ! Flying Sideways will probably be here or in Coco bay some time this week. Cetacean is still headed for the canal and Ventured is looking for a weather window to come back up here too. Sail La Vie is taking off to head South later today and Sea Star went out for a day-or-two fishing excursion.

Rough life, especially if you try to do something in the heat !
