Los Frailes and Muertos
24 November 2013
After five noisy nights and days in Cabo, and the Ha-Ha crew departed for home, Patty and I sailed (motored?) along the Baja peninsula 50 nautical miles for Bahia Los Frailes, a pretty little roadstead protected from the prevailing northerlys. Los Frailes is a convenient stop for boats heading up to La Paz. We spent an extra day there, just happy to be away from the hustle and bustle that was Cabo.
Since we had put our dinghy in the water, we volunteered to take the 86 year old mother of a neighboring boat to shore, then dumped her into the surf attempting a beach landing with swells. Poor lady was unhurt and took it in strideā¦
The next day, we sailed 50 more mile up the coast to Bahia Los Muertos. (Bay of the dead guys???) After dark, the winds shifted to the southeast with accompanying swells. Every boat in the anchorage rocked wildly the entire night. No one got any sleep and everyone departed at first light.
Next stop: La Paz
