Up In The Sea
12 January 2014 | Puerto Escondido
We are anchored in Puerto Escondido, about 14 miles to the south of the town of Loreto. Puerto Escondido ("hidden port") is a beautiful natural harbor proving excellent protection all directions of wind and weather. Loreto is a quaint, clean, and charming town, and is the sight of the first mission and settlement (1697) in the Californias (Baja and del Norté). We have spent the last 2 weeks sailing and motoring around the Sea of Cortez working our way up to here from La Paz, visiting some beautiful islands and fishing villages. In Puerto Escondido, we met up with the couple from whom we bought the boat 12 years ago. They were vacationing just south of Loreto. Wonderful to spend time with them!
