St Croix
20 April 2014
St Croix was next on our list of places to see, this island lies 40 miles due south of all the other virgin island and is the least visited by the yachting community. We had a very nice sail down to Christiansted, which is on the north coast. The entrance to the harbour is well marked but one to be careful of, as you have to pass between the coral reefs, once inside it is fairly calm. The waterfront is one of the prettiest in the Caribbean, all pastel shades and well maintained.
The anchorage for the visitors is just outside the marina but not quite as calm as the local boat anchorage, it's quite interesting to watch the surf roll over the reefs, there was a bit of a roll at times but not too unpleasant.
