Carnival time
10 May 2015
As we have been relaxing here in St Martin's for some time we decided to head into Philipsburgh to watch the carnival parade as it made it's way along front street. Each group were preceded with a truck with loads of speakers at front and back blasting out the carnival music a different beat for each group. The costumes were excellent brightly coloured for both men and women and some quite elaborate, and they danced there way along the street. The parade lasted a few hours with hundreds of people taking part as well as the crowds lining the street. Every island in the Caribbean has a carnival at different times and each is quite special to that island a fun day out.
