Had to Go Hunting

Steve
Ok, we've been unable to hunt for over a week now. It's just too hard with the winds at 30 kts. So it looked like we were getting a little bit of a break this morning. So Bill from Veranda and I dropped Kim and Christy off to do some beach combing and we went to the cut to do some hunting.

With the wind blowing like stink over the last week, the seas were a bit "lumpy" to say the least. We got to the cut slightly early which meant the current was running hard with the flood tide. So, hard current, lumpy seas, and poor visibility (from the waves) we jumped in anyway. Fairly early on I saw a nice Hogfish. With the current, he was moving around pretty good as was I. I 'm sure I zigged when he zagged and damn if I didn't get him! Hogfish is our favorite. Even better than lobster.

On the next coral head we went to, I was checking on the dinghy anchor to make sure it was dug in and while setting it, I saw movement out of the corner of my eye. A nice big lobster came out of his hole to check me out. It wasn't his lucky day.

Not bad for a generally rough day. Hogfish for dinner tonight. I'm getting excited just thinking about it. He'll look good on a bed of rice. The mailboat came in today so we have fresh onions, potatoes, eggs, green peppers and limes.

Meanwhile, Kim and Christy made a huge haul on the beach. Kim got over 75 hamburger beans. People go nuts finding more than one usually. They got to a beach that gets very little traffic.

So now we're back on Fine Lion getting ready for sundowners on the back of the boat. Life's tough!
