Well, we're in Thompson Bay, Long Island. Occasionally you make the wrong decision. We made one with our timing for the trip to Thompson Bay. First, we had to motor way too much because the wind was right on our nose, and it was 20+ kts. We actually used more fuel getting here than we did for the 2 ½ months we were in the Raggeds. Down there, you move when you can sail, and hunt when you can't. Second, there are 30+ boats here from Georgetown on a rally. They are on the radio constantly. As Bill on Veranda would say, "The Allies didn't have that much radio traffic for the invasion of Normandy". They are very un-independent cruisers. They need direction, and company to do things. Third, the mailboat isn't coming this week. And four, the laundry is down because of a water shortage. Damn - bad timing. We could have waited a week and saved fuel, killed more fish and lobster, and enjoyed the Raggeds more. Oh well, live and learn.

The anchorage at Thompson Bay

So now that we're here, we've taken on fuel and made a couple of stops at the grocery stores. We are actually in pretty good shape except for the laundry situation. We'll fix that Thursday when we rent a car and go down island to a different laundry.

On the trip up, we passed a couple of the Bahamian fishing boats. They are "working" their way home. The lobster season is over at the end of March. Many of the boats are from Spanish Wells at the top of Eleuthera. We talked to Lady Marie. That is a popular fishing boat because George, the Capt. is very friendly and "chatty" with cruisers. He is a real nice guy that tells you to give him or his wife a call if you get to Spanish Wells.

The work boats

We really enjoyed our time in the Jumentos/Ragged Islands this year. They are truly unspoiled and we hope they stay that way.

We're thinking about leaving in a few days with Mike and Kathy of Sapphire for Cat Island. As with all planning while cruising, it will be determined by the weather.

The Comer Channel on the way back...beautiful water

Talk to you later.
