Trip back to Ridge

19 May 2017 | East coat of US
Variable
Made it back to Finisterre after driving down to Fl from Ridge. Picked up the crew, Gerry CROWLEY long time friend and extraordinary sailor, Greg Keller a long time friend and extraordinary fishermen and Ex Navy submariner and Greg s Brother expert fisherman and computer wizard. Finisterre had her bottom and top cleaned just before we arrived and looked great. The engines started nicely and everything else was working. We fixed a broken bolt that holds the starboard engine hatch together. It took all 4 of us, it was a bonding task. BTW the hatch still leaks. 😀. We meet up with Don for dinner. Don from Adriatica who had just got back to the keys to replace his transmission. Weather projection for the next couple of days looked poor, so we left 2 days early and sailed to Marathon after provisioning to get under way and then hold up in Marathon till it passed. We got to 125 feet for 10 minutes to placate the fishermen on the boat, we catch a small mackerel and freed it. Saw a beautiful schooner sail buy. We stayed at Marathon Marina and had a great time.
Departed Marathon and sailed direct to Lake Work inlet stayed a couple of days in Palm Beach. Departed and sailed on the outside to Beaufort NC. Made it in 2 days and 17 hours. Caught a tuna fish in the ocean and saw a very big shark.
We stopped in Oriental then departed to Ridge. We made it in 3 days with an overnight up the Chesapeake. Really appreciate Greg and Gerry as the crew. Finisterre is now back at her slip and resting comfortably.
