Longboat Key LBK

01 February 2018 | LBK
Clear light winds and cold 60s
We made it to the LBK. We fueled up and then tied up in our slip on L dock. We settled in and took a shower and visited Dave and Betsy Frye. We caught up on things and had a great night.

Venice/Siesta Key

31 January 2018 | Siesta Key
10k from the NE and clear and cold
Departed Sanibel and stayed on the intercostal. Went by Cabbage Key where the O'Neil's and us anchored about 26 years ago. Cabbage key had definely developed more. We had a nice day cruising north, we actually was able to go north of Venice and anchored in White Beach by Siesta Key. We are looking forward to finally arriving at Longboat Key tomorrow Morning.

Sanibel Island

30 January 2018 | Sanibel Island
20-25 N and partly Cloudy
We departed out of Gordon Pass with reluctance. Winds were still from the. Roth at 20-25K. Sea turned out to be 4-6 foot and we had to motor right into the wind for 6 hours getting pounded to make it up to the to inter-coastal Sanibel Island. Finisterre did fine and we made it also. It was nice to be in the incostal. We anchored off of Sanibel and saw the blood moon. It was spectacular. We had chicken pot pies for dinner , my favorite.

Gordon Pass

29 January 2018 | Gordon Pass
Cloudy wind 23k N
Departed Shark River in the Fog with winds 10-15 from the Southwest. It was a nice day on the Gulf of Mexico. Our destination is Gordon Pass just north of Marko Island. Towards the end of the day the wind turned north and seas picked up. We decided to go on the inter coastal and turned into Big Marko Pass. We made it to Gordon Pass about 17:30 and anchored in a little harbor for the night. Nice house all around us. Had a grilled steak.

Shark River

28 January 2018 | Shark River
Cloudy Showers 25-30K SE
We departed Marathon on Sunday morning in 17K winds from the southeast. The winds were we're suppose to decay to 9K. As the day went on they strenghted to a steady 26k with gusts in the 30s. The waves built to 4-5 feet in the Gulf of Mexico. Pots were everywhere. We zig zag Ed a lot to miss them. We ran under a doubled reef main and a reefed jib and latter no jib. Thank God we were on a reach. We made shark river Anchorage around 4P thank god and anchored for the night to let the wind blow out. There were lots of alligators all around us in Shark River, very exciting. We had a nice dinner and good night sleep.
