Cold front after cold front

12 February 2010 | Cave Cay
Ralph
The fronts have been coming through fast and furious - every couple of days. And it seems like every second one blows hard. There is one coming through tonight and Chris Parker (Weather guru on the SSB) said this morning that it was the strongest one he has seen in 10 years of doing the Bahamas weather!!!!. They are talking about sustained winds in the Gale range - 35kts with gusts to 40 and up to 50 with squalls. So we decided to come into Cave Cay Marina, which is south of Farmers Cay and we are hoping to make the jump down to Georgetown on Sunday. The last front came through on Tuesday evening - The day before dropping Lori and Don off at Staniel. We were unsure of where to anchor and I took a look on the east side of Thunderball and there happened to be a great spot open for us - It turned out to be a great spot for the west winds and all though it was a little choppy it was not nearly as bad as being on the west side of the grotto. We had a good visit with Lori and Don and managed to take them to most of our favorite spots. I think they had a good time and they surely had a new experience not soon to be forgotten. We are now going to head down to Georgetown and re-provision and hopefully catch up with Kokopelli and Just Dreaming (37 Lagoons) and cruise down the Jumentos with them.
