Leaving for Havana

29 April 2010 | Ceinfuegos, Cuba
Ralph
After filling up the boat with fuel yesterday, we headed back into the city to purchase our bus tickets to Havana. We had dumped the 3 jerry jugs of fuel in about a week ago and yesterday another 3 jugs (20 litres each) filled it up. Since leaving Georgetown, we covered well over 700 miles and we have only used approximately 35 gallons of fuel. Fuel is $1 per litre here at the marina. There are times I wish I had larger engines, but not when I am filling up with fuel.

The bus tickets cost us $20 cuc each for a one-way ticket, and we have been advised to buy the return ticket when we get there. We have a place to stay lined up for tonight for $30 cuc. Our friends from "Miti" arrived back from Havana and really enjoyed it. We met another Canadian boat here and Peter has provided us with lot of places to see and things to do.

We are hoping we can leave for south early next week. Our visa expires next week Wednesday and we do not want to have to renew it.
