The two asses

Yesterday, after doing the laundry in the morning, I went by dingy into Baru. The exuse was to pick up some supplies, but the real reason was to see if the restaurant was open. I went with Salange (Melissa and Kevin) and Damion from Bruadair, came in my dingy with me. They have this lunch time thing here in Colombia called Comida Corriente. I have talked about it before. Its a set meal for a very reasonable price - its what the locals eat. It always starts with a sopa (soup) which is usually delicious, followed by a plate of some meat, rice and salad. The meat is usually chicken, but I have also had fish, pork and beef. It can sometimes be tripe, so you have to be careful when ordering the beef. Salange is hooked on this soup and Kevin was very disappointed that the restaurant was closed the last time we went into town. So the first place we checked out was the restaurant and it was open! The meal was 7,000 pesos ($3.50) I have had better sopa, but it was still tasty and the chicken was excellent. We went to a tienda to pick up some bread and some treats and headed back to the boat, just in time for the rain to start. It rained enough that we went out on the deck with our swim suits and scrubbed the decks clean. The plan was for a bonfire on the beach, but the rain did not let up, so we just ended up staying on the boat and watching movies.
Its raining again this morning, but I think today we are going to decide what we are going to do and take some action. It is beautiful here, but it would be nice to get a change of scenery. My vote is to go back to Cartagena for two days, and then Saturday head to the Rosarios and then to the San Bernardo's Monday and get ready to cross to Panama Tuesday or Wednesday. We shall see....
You see lots of donkeys like this that are used for daily work. I was bending over to see if I could tell the sex of the animal - it looked pregnant, and Karen got a good picture of two asses.
