A busy day in Kuna Land

13 February 2011 | Rio Sidra & Canbombia, San Blas, Panama
Ralph
I made the crew get up early yesterday - 8:00am, so we could make a stop at a village before heading to the next anchorage. Rio Sidra was only 3 miles away, so we headed there so we could show Lori and Don what a Kuna village was like. We had trouble getting the anchor hooked on the first attempt so we headed away from the island to small patch of sand and set the anchor right away. It was a very busy village with activity everywhere. Inside a large hut they had a fire in the middle with this huge pot - I think they were making coffee, but they never offered us any. There must have been 25 - 30 men inside and the chief was speaking. There were selling molas everywhere and they had some of the best stocked stores I have seen

After the village tour, we picked up anchor again and headed to Canbombia to anchor and to get one last snorkel in. The snorkel was great but unfortunatly the hunting not good - I only saw two small lobsters and that was it. But the highlight of the snorkel was a close up view of 4 eagle rays. After the snorkel we went in to visit the family that lives at one corner of the island. Nice people and there was a 13 year old girl there that was very friendly and had a great smile.

Today we are back to Nargana to take them on a river trip and then they are off on the plane tomorrow.
