Winter is coming!
I saw that this blog is being highlighted as a recent poster. This is because I was playing around and trying to figure things out. I didn't want you to just get a blank blog so I will try and write just a bit.

We are a family of three that are planning to escape the cold winter here in Canada and spend some time exploring the caribean aboard our Gulfstar 41 called Flying Free. This is a big trip and requires a lot of planning and even more work. This blog will be used to journal the trip and keep our family updated on our progress. It also will form our record of the experience.

Vessel Name: Flying Free
Vessel Make/Model: Gulfstar 41
Hailing Port: Marinette, WI
Crew: The Mortensen Family
About: A family from the prairies of Saskatchewan Canada, thousands of miles from the ocean, who got it into their heads to buy a sailboat and sail away from winter. Joanne is a teacher, Henning is a computer consultant, and Erik is their son, who will be in grade 9 during the trip.
Extra: Why? Because it will be the experience of a lifetime. It will change our view of the world, challenge us to expand our skills, and hopefully show us what life is really about.
