So we figured out customs and immigration (had to get a cab to the airport and find our way to the basement of some cinder-block building for this); we offloaded bags of garbage and dirty laundry; got Forty tucked in behind the superyachts at Marina Taina. And I managed to catch my flight, a little less than 23 hours after we made it in to Papeete harbour.
Particular thanks to Rocky, who stayed behind and really did the heavy lifting putting the boat to bed. Especially the shore power connection, which turned out to require European voltage, at North American frequency, with plug nothing like either place... somehow he patched it all together and made it work. Thanks Rock.
We're all home now, and it's already hard to believe that just 3 weeks ago we were in the middle of the South Pacific together.
Chas, Buddy, Rocky, and John -- you guys were great ship mates; you made the trip easy on the boat, easy on one another (and me!), and a lot of fun. Hope we sail together again (... and it's still a long way back to the Pacific Northwest...)
