Rangiroa looked so close but turned out to be so far... at least, the narrow pass we needed to get through was just out of reach at dusk (and we were going to miss slack tide as well) so we decided to keep going. Nowhere to anchor outside these passes; you really have to get through and it is a bit time critical.
So we spent the next 24 hrs working our way upwind to Manihi, which is one of the northern most part of this group. Went through this pass against tide which was doable, in daylight early this AM. Spent today snorkeling, fixing stuff, exploring. Leisurely dinner prepared with the boat quietly at anchor rather than hard over reaching upwind.
Tomorrow AM early out and start the 500 nm NE to Marquesas... no more stops!
