Dolphins!!!!

So we reached our destination early yesterday morning. The mountainous islands were striking after being at sea for 5 days straight and after the low lying atolls we had anchored at previously. We took a taxi into town with a fellow 'yachtee' from Britian. Turns out he has been 'stranded' here for 3 1/2 years trying to fix his sailboat. Don't worry...we have flights booked....or so we thought! Mike found out when changing his flight that our original Tahiti to LA flight had been canceled. Good thing he had called or I never would have known. Will now try to get a flight on the 5th or 6th. It is a bit challenging to communicate by phone while on a sailboat and also because the airlines are closed!! Yesterday we sailed over to Hanamoenoa Bay on Tahuata to spend our last 2 nights (or so we thought). It is a beautiful bay with a white sandy beach and palm trees, turquoise blue water...very picturesque. And to top it off, we were the only boat at anchor! We snorkeled both yesterday and today, and saw an awesome variety of fish. We even saw a Manta ray! The highlight however, was when a tour boat came in this morning and was surrounded by dolphins!! The small tour group was swimming along side the dolphins, so Mike and I went over and joined them!!! Incredible experience, there were more than 20 dolphins, swimming and playing around us. Later in the day, after the boat left, the dolphins were back and I was able to join them on my own!! All in all, the trip has been incredible. Mike has been very patient with me, and his knowledge and skill astounds me. I hope to get home in the next few days (on island time here so not really sure when yet) and look forward to sharing our photos and stories! Hope all is well there!
