fOUR C'S WINS THIRD PLACE
20 November 2006 | TORTOLA
Team Four C?? s Representing the Huntington Yacht Club Wins Third Place in its Division.
Long Island Boys make good and bring a Carib1500 victory home.
The team pictured Alan, Doug, Jason and John receiving the Siler Trophy Bowl at Sunday night?? s award ceremony in BVI Cay Resort and Marina, Tortola. The win was the result of team?? s choice of an easterly course as opposed to a direct southerly course. This course left the team with extremely favorable winds from the east on the last day allowing them to sail to a strong victory. There was some talk of entering the Atlantic Cup in May but the team refused to release details of whether Coren came keep the team together as that they are now sought after as team mates by other cruising yachts. Tat are better and have real cooks and lots of fuel and generators and airconditioning.
After a grueling 12 day race covering over 1500 miles. Involving 70 boats Team Four C?? s crossed the finish line at 8:15 AM Atlantic time of Tortola?? s, Road Harbor, BVI.
The team had weathered various conditions through the 11 days including the loss of a crewmen at sea, (Jason accidentally stepped on a bird that landed on the boat the night before and had been living in the salon). The team made it in with fuel but because of fuel rationing we had tossed the perishable provisions and lived off PB&J and various candy confiscated from a crew member that shall remain nameless.
A STRONG SUGGESTION TO ANY WEST HILL HOSPITAL READERS THAT THE STAFF DRESS LIKE PIRATES WITH EYE PATCHES WHEN DR. COREN RETURNS ON WEDNESDAY FOR SURGERY.
