Chub Cay

27 January 2010 | Bahamas
Brian
This Cay is a little island, which is mostly used as a stopover for sailors heading for Nassau. We anchored in 8 feet of crystal clear water. I dove the anchor to ensure it was dug in and we would be secure for the night. We still had 35 miles to go to get to Nassau so we relaxed and got a good night sleep...not much wind during the night so we slept well. We were up at first light, we pulled anchor, raised our sails and headed Southeast towards Nassau. The wind came up quick and we sailed closed hauled about 6.5 knots. The wind continued to clock around and we had to fall off the wind a little and motor sail. Just too close on the nose but we were still making 6 kts toward Nassau. We arrived in Nassau at about three o'clock in the afternoon and anchored off the main harbor with about 25 other boats. Wow....what a city compared to Bimini....lots to explore...

About:
Nancy & I have been planning to go sailing for years. We are not ready to retire but decided to take this trip before we get to old. Sailing takes a lot of energy and commitment so we didnt want to wait until we cant physically handle the trip. [...]
