Surfing the Caribbean

After researching surf spots in the Caribbean on the Internet we found we were within sailing distance of a great reef break. There isn't an anchorage nearby but we decided to sail over to Tortola and check out Apple Bay break. We spotted the backs of the waves as they moved into shore and could see one surfer out. We anchored offshore the breaking waves in thirty feet of water. I grabbed my board and jumped into the dinghy. Nancy wasn't feeling up to surfing a fast reef break so she stayed with the boat. I anchored the dinghy just outside the breaking waves and padded into the break. There was one friendly local surfing the 4-5 foot face fast reef waves. The waves were consistent and really fun. There were more than enough waves for both of us and we were taking turns surfing these barreling waves.
