Cast Off!

31 October 2008 | Turtle Bay, Mexico
Brian
We left San Diego on 10/27/08 as planned. "Four Points" (our boat) is fully loaded and ready to take us to parts beyond. Four of us onboard, Nancy & I and our adventurous friends Cheryl & David. The first leg of our trip is to Turtle Bay approximately 300 miles down the coast of Baja California (Mexico).
I sit writing this safely anchored in beautiful Turtle Bay. The wind was off and on and we had to motor some of the way. We were at sea for 68 hours (three nights). The weather was warm & beautiful. We could not have asked for a better passage (maybe a little more wind) but Four Points did great. We saw all kinds of sea life, including whales, dolphin, and sea lions. We caught a good size Bonito and a couple of large Yellow Fin Tuna. My brother Kevin would be proud how a non-fisherman like myself was able to reel and fillet in some awesome dinner. I say this because I would not be successful without the great fishing pole & reel that Kevin let bring on this trip.

About:
Nancy & I have been planning to go sailing for years. We are not ready to retire but decided to take this trip before we get to old. Sailing takes a lot of energy and commitment so we didnt want to wait until we cant physically handle the trip. [...]
